Welcome for electric buses to improve air quality

I was pleased to be invited by Xplore Dundee to see an electric bus like the ones they have on order to come to Dundee in the near future.  These buses will run on the 28 route along Lochee Road.  Regular readers will be aware that I have been raising my ongoing concerns about air quality on the Lochee Road for a number of years.  Buses are part of the solution to poor air quality on Lochee Road and the introduction of  electric buses is good news.

Poor air quality in Dundee has to stop.  I am pleased to see Xplore Dundee investing in new electric buses.  I am clear that we need to make sure that Dundee has a public transport system ready for the challenges of the twenty-first century.  I am particularly pleased that Xplore Dundee intend to use their new buses on the 28 service along Lochee Road.  These new buses will go some way to promoting better air quality on Lochee Road.  I will continue to campaign for better air quality and a better environment for everyone in Dundee.  This is a welcome contribution.

I am also clear that to promote the economy of the city and to improve the environment of the city we need to promote public transport.  In Dundee the city council, Tactran the regional transport partnership, Transport Scotland and the local bus operators must get together and promote measures that improve air quality, improve travel options for everyone and promote the economic well being of our city.

The bus that was used for this trial was painted in the livery HCT, this is a social enterprise that is running buses in London and elsewhere.
