On Tuesday I attended the January meeting of the West End Community Council. The main speaker was Celine Moyes from Solar Cities Scotland. She spoke about their work in the West End trying to reduce carbon production. It is clear that we need to take action to reduce our carbon use. If we do it would be good for the planet and also good for us.
As ever the Community Council provided a good opportunity to listen to the views and concerns of local people. We had some interesting discussion on the control of dogs in our parks.
There was also a very interesting discussion about the possibility of New Year celebrations in Dundee. There was a general consensus that there should be some kind of event at New Year in Dundee, there was a diversity of opinion about what form it should take. I am glad to say that there is cross-party support for looking at the issue. I will be joining my colleague Lesley Brennan and a number of SNP councillors at a meeting which will look at how we could bring forward such proposals.
